What is PPO? Preferred Provider Organization (PPO), is a healthcare plan that contracts  with medical providers (doctors and hospitals), in order to generate a network of participating providers. It's a healthcare plan that allows you to choose your hospital or clinic without any referrals from your primary doctor. Individuals may go in network or out of network for care. However a person may pay a higher monthly premium, along with higher co-pays, and deductibles with a PPO.
